ACADEMIC

Driven social scientist who is passionate about gender issues, human rights and global justice.

Nema Vinkeloe is a young musician who has performed in India, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Uganda and USA. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Global Studies with special focus on International Relations, Global Political Economy and Global Gender Issues. The under-representation of women in most categories has motivated her to seek out and join different organisations and networks that promote gender equality; she is an active member of the international network Women in Development Europe (WIDE+) and is a board member of the Swedish association GADIP (Gender and Development In Practice).

Through organising workshops, seminars and conferences and writing reports, papers and articles, Nema continues her research on gender issues initiated during her studies. She seeks to contribute to the growing feminist literature on gender and trade and in that way contribute to the generation of economic, politically and socially sustainable global development. Through her different projects, she cooperates with people from different countries and background; she believes that the exchange of experiences over national and cultural borders and joint forces will push for gender equality and social justice. She is the cofounder of Open Horizon Records and a board member of the organisation GlobalKulture.
